Mission Chapel
The words over the door read, “All Are Welcome,” but that doesn’t seem to be enough for anyone to make good use of the building since John Street Baptist Church left it in 1997.

Pepe’s
I’m always excited to see new life come into old neighborhoods. Pepe’s just opened on 274 Franklin St., right next to the Firehouse where the Cold Storage fire happened (and nearby the photos for the last three days). I stopped in to pick up a temporary menu before opening hours, and they were still working hard polishing up the loose ends. A few of the crew agreed to have their pictures taken behind the bar. I look forward to trying their pizza, even if it isn’t Chicago style, so let me know if anyone’s interested in trying it out!
