Borrowed: Eric Baker’s Half Dome

Half Dome at Sunrise

Eric Baker is a young photographer whom I met selling his photographs at Worcester’s stART on the Street. I was impressed by the work that he and his two friends (hopefully to be featured in the weeks ahead) had out on the table, and I later went to his website and was blown away. I was particularly drawn to his Yosemite photos, partly due to my recent experiences there myself. The amazing sunrise pictured above was Eric’s “…first impression of Yosemite. We got in after dark the night before, and I made the decision to wake up at 4:30 in the a.m. to drive out to a spot on a map that I scoped out in the car. It was still dark when I got there and set up, when the first light finally went cascading over the valley for my first real sights of Yosemite valley. I was speechless (not that i had anyone to talk to at that hour anyways), but I noticed a number of minutes later that my mouth had been open for quite some time. It was literally jaw-dropping!”
