Installation Art

Installation ArtThe Knoxville Convention Center has an impressive assortment of art adorning its outer halls. The first time I saw this display on a very large wall, it looked like a bunch of colored glass shelves which cast a dim and muted display of color above each of the shelves. I was unimpressed. A few hours later, however, the sun had shifted in the sky and shone through a few feet of skylights overhead. The resulting display of light which took on different colors as it passed through and bounced off the different shelves was especially beautiful because I had first written off this work of art as useless and uninspired. If only we could be so patient with each person who we meet.
