Eureka Springs & North Arkansas Railway

When the conductor of the train saw me taking a picture of him with my conspicuous telephoto lens, he told me to ride up in the engine while the engineer maneuvered it through the roundhouse. On the way to the engine, we lamented for a brief moment about no longer shooting Kodachrome. It felt a bit like a secret handshake. So I then climbed on the engine and was introduced to Tom, the engineer, pictured here. Classic. I do wonder what he was thinking when instead of taking pictures of the train, I started aiming the camera at him. I’m really looking forward to printing this wonderful face really, really big.

So good it almost seems fake, as if you hired an actor to play the part.
