Monument to our Pioneers

Shipbuilding marble panel of Monument to our Pioneers sculpture

From a temporary informational board located across the street from the monument:

Dedicated in December 1929, the monument represents the courage and spirit of the early settlers. The marble panels depict pioneers: farming; trapping; weaving; harvesting; home building; hunting; shipbuilding; and educating their children.

The monument is located on the southwest corner of Park and Highland, across from Elm Park. You’ll have to take a walk around the monument for yourself to see the other panels.
